Sprouted Ragi Flour — Ancient Grain, Modern Nutrition

Ragi (finger millet) has been the backbone of Telugu and South Indian nutrition for centuries. Our grandmothers knew that sprouting ragi before grinding it dramatically increases its nutritional value and makes it far easier to digest. We bring that same ancient wisdom back to your kitchen — stone-ground sprouted ragi flour, made the traditional way in a terracotta-style grinding setup, with zero additives.

How our sprouted ragi flour is made

Selected ragi seeds are cleaned, soaked in water for 8–12 hours, then allowed to sprout naturally for 24–48 hours. Once sprouted, they are sun-dried and stone-ground into fine flour. Sprouting unlocks nutrients that are otherwise locked in the grain and reduces the phytic acid that prevents mineral absorption.

  • Naturally sprouted — no artificial processing
  • Sun-dried after sprouting to preserve nutrients
  • Stone-ground to retain natural fibre and minerals
  • 100% gluten-free
  • No preservatives, no additives, no artificial colour

Why sprouting makes a difference

Regular ragi flour is made by grinding raw seeds directly. Sprouting first breaks down phytic acid — a natural compound that blocks the absorption of iron, calcium and zinc. This means your body can absorb significantly more nutrition from the same amount of sprouted ragi compared to regular ragi flour. Sprouting also partially pre-digests the starch, making it ideal even for babies and the elderly.

Uses:

  • Ragi ganji (porridge) — traditional morning health drink
  • Ragi mudda — a staple of Andhra rural households
  • Ragi rotis and dosas
  • Baby food — highly recommended as a first solid food
  • Ragi laddu with jaggery — a traditional nutritious snack
  • Added to smoothies for a nutrition boost
